08-0379 Manager Risk Management
Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) is one of the largest electricity delivery and natural gas companies in the mid-Atlantic region. More than 1.8 million customers in Washington D.C., Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia depend on PHI for their electricity and natural gas needs.
We are seeking a Manager Risk Management to join the staff at our Washington DC, Carneys Point New Jersey or Newark Delaware location. In this role, you will manage the risks of the SOS supplies for capacity, energy, RECs and ancillary services (portfolios) within established criteria for each PHI jurisdiction. Implement systems and procedures that evaluate financial, market and credit risks. Consult with the Manager, Energy Transactions to prepare risk hedging strategies. Develop methods to evaluate the future performance of the portfolios and recommends adjustments to maintain performance within the established criteria. Perform analytical testing of the portfolios to assure that controls are effective. Perform routine calculations of exposures and provides information to the PHI Chief Risk Officer. Consult to the PHI Risk Management Committee on portfolio performance and provides advice on portfolio risk management criteria. Support regulatory proceedings associated with the portfolios.
Responsibilities: Technical positions at various levels report to this position. This position has responsibility for hiring and development of subordinates. This position is responsible for the management of risks for supply contracts amounting to $100-$200 million per month. This position is responsible for managing the capital, credit and market risks of the supply portfolios. This position may have accountability for key controls for SOX reporting.

Requirements |
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Economics OR equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
Experience demonstrating skill managing the risks of wholesale electric or fuel supplies for various portfolios (for example electric capacity, energy, RECs, ancillary services, or natural gas).
Experience demonstrating skill establishing risk management practices in various portfolios (for example, capacity, energy, renewable requirements).
Experience demonstrating skill performing risk evaluations on portfolios (for example, daily calculations of mark to market).
Experience demonstrating skill evaluating portfolio performance against predetermined criteria.
Experience demonstrating skill performing analytical testing of portfolios to ensure effectiveness of risk controls.
Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley key control activities for Sarbanes-Oxley reporting.
Experience demonstrating skill working within electric utility markets such as PJM.
Experience demonstrating skill supervising employees, to include developing performance standards, conducting performance appraisals, providing feedback, coaching, training, and making personnel decisions.
Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, analytical, and e-mail software.
Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations.
Ability and willingness to work non-standard and extended hours as required.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Must successfully pass a Criminal History Records Check.
Preferred:
Advanced degree in Economics or Statistics.
Experience demonstrating skill preparing risk hedging strategies.
Knowledge of the electric utility industry to include generation, PJM, and/or wholesale electric system operations.
Knowledge of wholesale power market tariffs, transactions, and/or settlements.
Experience demonstrating skill developing methods to evaluate current and future performance of portfolios.
Experience demonstrating skill recommending and/or directing others to make changes to portfolios based on risk evaluations.
Experience demonstrating skill presenting results of portfolio risk calculations to upper management and discussing recommendations for risk control.
Experience demonstrating skill supporting regulatory proceedings by providing portfolio evaluation information.
Experience demonstrating skill managing transactions that adjust for financial, market, and credit risks of commodity portfolios.
Experience demonstrating skill implementing a new software system.
